Hosting in action

What Happens When Someone Visits Your Website?

Pick a stage, or play the sequence. It is a simplified illustration.

yourbusiness.exampleDomain: the addressHosting setup

1. Find the Website

The domain directs the visitor toward the website’s hosting setup. A domain is the address; hosting is where the site runs.

Not a diagnostic of your website or of XWeb Pros' network.

Different Websites Have Different Hosting Needs.

Hosting is worth reviewing when a site is being built, changing owners or outgrowing its current setup. We consider site type, traffic needs, backups and dependencies rather than assume one package fits all.

Business Website

Service pages, images, and inquiry forms.

Often a simpler discussion, still subject to the actual platform and where email and the domain are managed.

The final recommendation depends on the actual platform, traffic, storage, integrations and support requirements. Not every website fits the same arrangement, and not every custom application can be hosted.

Considerations

What Should Your Hosting Support?

A proposal may address environment setup, migration planning, domain and access coordination, and a support arrangement. Vendor, uptime expectations, backups and restoration responsibilities need explicit written terms; no universal SLA is offered here.

Website Compatibility

Example

A booking plugin that needs a newer software version will not run in an environment that only offers an older one. Compatibility is checked before choosing, not after launch.

Hosting is separate from ongoing website maintenance, security monitoring, email hosting, domain registration and application support. Each is scoped on its own and only where agreed. We do not state backup frequency, retention, response times, uptime guarantees, server locations or certifications.

Sample dashboard

A Clearer View of Your Website’s Environment

Illustrative Dashboard — Sample Data

Storage usage

What it means: Shows how much of the site’s storage allowance is used by files, images and data. Three fictional observations: 60%, 71%, then 78%.

When to look closer: This sample deserves review because usage is rising, not because 78% is a universal threshold. Plan to clean up unused media or discuss more room before it fills.

Fictional sample data, not live. Customers should not assume they receive this exact dashboard; any reporting is confirmed in the agreed scope.

Migration

Moving an Existing Website? Start With a Plan.

We review the existing environment, confirm ownership and dependencies, agree on a suitable option, plan any move and verify the site with responsible parties after cutover.

1. Review the Website

Identify the website’s platform, data, integrations, and requirements.

  • Email continuity: email is planned so it keeps working through a domain change.
  • Rollback planning: a way back is agreed before the switch.
  • Active stores and applications: orders and data change while a move is underway, so they are accounted for in the plan.
  • No promise of zero downtime, instant migration or compatibility with every system.

This illustrates a process. It does not start a migration or change any domain settings.

Hosting FAQs

Vendor, uptime, backups and restoration require written terms. There is no universal service level.

A domain is the website’s address, such as a name people type in. Hosting is where the website’s files and software run. Domain registration is separate from hosting.

Possibly. It depends on the platform, access and dependencies of the site. We review those in discovery before recommending anything.

We need to review its platform, access and dependencies before quoting a move.

Not automatically. Email hosting is separate. We would check how email is set up today so a move does not interrupt it.

Backups and restoration require written terms; none are assumed. Ongoing maintenance is separately scoped, see Website Care.

Hosting resources, page design, image sizes, caching and third-party tools all contribute. Hosting alone does not decide it.

We can discuss both. Fit depends on the platform, data and integrations, and not every application is hostable. Store planning is covered under Ecommerce, and custom builds under App Development.

Ownership and account access should be established in the proposal before migration.

Ongoing website care is a separate scoped service.
